Charity Miles – A Running Must

I have found the ultimate running motivator: charity.  If you haven’t discovered it yet, Charity Miles is my new favorite app/motivation/cause.  Essentially for every mile you log, you earn aid towards the charity of your choosing.  Talk about motivation: miles = money.  You can support a wide range of causes from the ASPCA to Autism Speaks to Habitat for Humanity all while getting in shape.

Simply put from the CharityMiles.Org website: “Just choose a charity and press start. As you walk, run or bike, the app tracks your distance and you earn money for your charity. Bikers earn 10¢ per mile; walkers and runners earn 25¢ per mile, all up to our initial $1,000,000 sponsorship pool.”

How cool is that?! Even my whimpy two mile run the other day earned 5 meals to feed the hungry; just imagine what your marathon training can do!  They aren’t even biased towards operating systems and work on both iPhone and Droid. (That was your hint to go download it now if you haven’t already)  And if you’re a social media nerd like me, you can even share your results on your accounts at the end of your workout.

A huge thank-you to whoever created this inspiring app, it is one of the coolest marriages between technology and running I’ve ever seen.  So runners, now that you’re motivated and ready to rock, I look forward to hearing all about the good you’re doing for the world while logging those miles!  We’d love to here your impact, don’t be afraid to share!

As always, run on runners.

  1. Thanks for showing us all this app. I hadn’t even heard of it until I read your post. Now I’ve downloaded it and nagged my friends to do the same. If only I’d heard about it sooner!
