It’s January 26th, the first month of 2012 is almost over, and the gym is already starting to thin out. It’s officially the make it or break it moment for everyone who made workout related resolutions. Thinking about throwing in the towel? Getting rid of that new gym membership? Or maybe you just want to tell you running buddy to stop texting you so early. Here’s my advice: man/woman up and keep going.
We all hit that wall that seems like it can’t be climbed, but I promise you, it is going to be totally worth it to dig in for the long haul. I’ve hit plenty of those snags along the way, and each time have had to work hard to push through the muck. That New Years resolution that you set hasn’t gone away, and think about how proud you will be later down the road when you can say “I didn’t give up”.
New Year’s resolutions were not made to be broken, but instead are a goal to reach before it comes time to decide on next year’s plan. So, do what you’ve got to do to get it done. Write your goal down somewhere that you can refer back to often, celebrate the milestones of your accomplishments, and definitely don’t give up. While most people are cleaning out their gym lockers and opting for the couch, get back out there and show them who’s boss.
